Undergraduate research - FURI, sponsored by the
CEA, is designed to support student researchers while encouraging
faculty/student research collaborations. The goal is to provide
students with meaningful intellectual and practical research in
their chosen academic disciplines.
|
Individual research and experiential projects can be executed in a variety of ways, including as Honors Projects or directed studies. Students receive academic credit for these works. Students also complete experiential projects while on co-op or simply in addition to their other projects.
For details on the Honor Projects, please visit the Honors Program web site.
Students working on these types of projects often incur expenses. To support students embarking on costly but educationally valuable experiential projects, the CEA established the Experiential Learning Grant.
The Provost's Office has also started a new program that awards student $1,000 grants for independent research. Please visit www.research.neu.edu/ugresearch.html for more details.
Along with Individual Research and Experiential Projects, there are two other types of undergraduate research practiced:
Faculty
Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI)
Community Based Research Initiative (CBRI)
